  • What is circular economy?
Circular Economy refers to a system in which all materials and components of a product are kept in their highest values at all phases of the chain, being waste designed out of the system. Such concept brings organisations into rethinking resource management in order to create financial, environmental and social benefits.
  • Why do you concentrate on electronics?
Global consumption of Electrical and Electronic Equipement (EEE) is on the rise. When these products enter a used and end of life state, a large amount of this equipment is sorted incorrectly and shipped illigally around the world, to then be disposed of and treated under rudimentary foundation. The current status of Electrical and Electronic Equipment usage is dramatically increasing today. The numbers are astonishing: -5.0 million tons of e-waste is produced each year, and if unchecked it could more than double by 2050 to 120 million tons. Looking at the current material value of our spent devices, globally this amounts to 62.5 billions dollars. Adressing the full lifecycle of EEE is a pressing issue which needs a collaborative effort to maximize system-wide coherence towards eco-design and a life-cycle approach to tackle e-waste.
  • How can I contribute?
To tackle the e-waste crisis, experts' insights, best practices, a broaden collaboration and revolutionary thoughts would allow to increase awerness and also a shared wisdom that can be ultimately transformed into concrete actions. Every member of this community is thus invited to share their perspectives, doubts, comments and also ask questions to promote a usuful debate starting from the definition and approval of our first set of criteria followed by a second stage, which includes indicators and their measurments.
